Natalija Gucheva is a visual artist and curator based in Ghent. Working across installation, performance, and text, her practice often unfolds through intimate, relational situations. She creates spaces where personal memory, vulnerability, and shared experience can circulate collectively.
Her work frequently draws on autobiographical fragments, which she reconfigures through storytelling, allowing them to expand beyond the individual into something that can be held in common. There is often a strong attention to care, to emotional complexity, and to the tension between tenderness and discomfort, as well as an interest in how narratives shape our sense of self and others.
Her curatorial work extends the same concerns into collaborative and socially engaged forms, approaching exhibition making as a relational process rather than a finished display and making room for voices too often pushed to the margins. The curatorial and the artistic remain closely entangled, each shaping how she thinks about narrative and encounter.
Alongside her individual work, Natalija is a board member of Shif—t*, a queer, transdisciplinary collective based in Ghent, where she contributes to artistic direction, development and communication. The organisation operates at the intersection of scenography, queer history, and feminist research, building environments as spaces of care and shared knowledge.
